Hello Darling! Love 💛Love 💛Love this. What a magical ✨long weekend in the Driftless. I just joined the four week writing ✍️ workshop at Porchlight this super cool place here in Iowa City and I recruited more writers coming to Kansas City for AWP in February and invited them to your book party.
Favorite part for me of Red Clover magic was you, me, and Susan Saturday night with me and Susan sober and you downing whiskeys 🥃 and your description of your wedding dress with the red petticoats like my Irish great grandmother Julia Diggins- and you saying old vintage dresses didn’t fit you motioning to your upper torso and my feeling like an uncouth writer not knowing some French word for upper torso and asking you/ making a foolish hick outta myself “What’s a rabe- cauge?” And Susan in her delightfully polite gay Midwestern I was a Marine officer in past life touching my forearm kindly.. “She said rib cage.” Lolz 😂
Loooove you Lady. And I gotta track down your contact information so I can stalk you in person and be friends in real life. Xxxx Ida
OMG. You are hilarious and amazing. It was certainly a magical part of a magical weekend! Thank you so much for subscribing! (Also, it was wine-based amaro, not whiskey! Don't want to get RCR in trouble since they only have a beer and wine license. Also, I 100% would have been on the floor if I'd had that quantity of whiskey!)
Ha! Makes loads more sense. I’d never seen anyone who could drink that much whiskey and be upright! But you have some superhuman genes. Loved this story of Red Clover magic. And my father used to say “After the ecstasy, the laundry.” So much laundry!
Emily!!! Miss you already. And yes to all of this ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for creating such an amazing space for me to exist in for a minute.
That was a FABULOUS conversation. Truly precious moments shared.
Hello Susan!!! So excited you’re here on Substack. Are you coming to AWP in Kansas City? And more importantly Emily’s book launch!
Emily- I preordered I’ll Just Be Five More Minutes!
Peter just bought a Winnebago. You’re gonna love it! It’s sooo fun.
Is Emily’s book launch the same weekend as AWP?
